Update 10/2: The Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta issue has reportedly been resolved.
Original story follows.
Early access to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 open beta is now live on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC; however, a serious issue appears to be preventing some fans from jumping in and playing. While the primary method for gaining early access to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta is by pre-ordering, there are also numerous other promotions offering codes at no additional cost. Unfortunately, it appears that those who obtained a code without pre-ordering are experiencing issues accessing the beta.
The beta may have only just begun, but this isn’t the first issue fans have had this week. During the yearly COD Next event on September 30, Activision promised fans who watched at least an hour of the event would receive an early access code to the beta, as long as their Twitch and Activision accounts were linked. However, it quickly became apparent that there was a serious delay in sending out the codes, as many users complained that they had not received their early access code for the Black Ops 7 beta, despite watching for more than one hour. Now that the beta has begun, even more issues appear to have occurred.
Call of Duty Error Preventing Fans From Playing Black Ops 7 Beta
Shortly after the Black Ops 7 beta kicked off, fans quickly took to social media to report an issue that was preventing them from playing. Various posts began appearing on Reddit, with players questioning why Call of Duty was issuing an error stating they were unable to access the beta, despite having an early access code. The error appeared to be affecting those attempting to play via Battle.net. While players quickly developed a workaround that involved changing the region to Asia, launching the game, and then switching back to the relevant region, Call of Duty states that the issue has now been fixed on Battle.net.
Although the studio claims the issue has been rectified, numerous comments suggest that the problem persists on consoles. “What about consoles!? It keeps asking me to preorder the game after putting the beta code in,” Twitter user JD responded. Some are even claiming that the issue still remains on Battle.net. “This is not true in the slightest. No update available, restarted, the game, restarted battlenet, even reinstalled the beta. Still cannot get in,” Twitter user Bailable said.
The good news is that the beta is live until October 8, so anyone who can’t access the game now will likely be able to do so before the playtest concludes next week. But, with that being said, many will be eager to make the most of the Black Ops 7 beta and earn all of the rewards up for grabs. The early access period will be capped at Level 20, but players who reach the maximum level during this period will be able to unlock numerous cosmetic items and even two operator skins. The level cap will then be increased to Level 30 once the beta goes live for all players, with an exclusive weapon blueprint available at the max level.
As this is a beta, players won’t have access to every map and mode in Black Ops 7. Instead, the nearly week-long beta will include six different multiplayer maps: Blackheart, Cortex, Exposure, Imprint, The Forge, and Toshin, and six different modes: Team Deathmatch, Search and Destroy, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, Domination, and the shooter’s newest mode, Overload.
