At the age of 16, the Irish forward became the youngest-ever goal scorer in the competition's history. This was also the player's debut for the Hoops. He joined them in the January transfer window from St Patrick's Athletic.

A day after Noonan created history in Europe, he was spotted heading to school as his mother posted a photograph of him carrying a school bag on X. She wrote in the caption: "And back to school he goes."
