UPDATE 20/4/22: Well, that was quick. After fans spotted that ray-tracing options had gone missing from Resident Evil 2 and 3 on PC last week, Capcom has issued an update to the game today which it says has now fixed the “issue”.
There’s still no explanation of why these options disappeared.

UPDATE 18/4/22: Capcom has said it will resolve the “issue” of a raytracing no longer being available in the PC versions of Resident Evil 2 and 3.
“We’re aware of an ongoing issue with the raytracing option not appearing in the graphics menu and presets,” Capcom wrote in a Twitter post today. “We’ll have this addressed in a future update and apologize for any inconvenience!”
A missing option for 3D Audio will also be restored, Capcom said.
ORIGINAL STORY 16/4/22: Capcom has quietly removed raytracing from the Steam versions of both the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes.
Right now, no-one’s entirely sure why the feature has been removed, but whilst “they are still DirectX 12”, raytracing has disappeared – as has Dolby Atmos for the third remake, too.
The issue came to light when u/pmc64 popped up on the PC Gaming subreddit to say that “Capcom removed raytracing” from both games overnight, whilst someone else brought it to everyone’s attention on the Resident Evil 3 Steam community around the same time.
