San Diego FC, Major League Soccer's newest expansion team, played their inaugural home match at Snapdragon Stadium Saturday against St. Louis City SC. The historic event drew a sellout crowd, including high-profile figures such as part-owner and San Diego Padres star Manny Machado and boxer Ryan Garcia.
The pair were on the field before the game and received a raucous ovation by the crowd.

San Diego FC’s first home game ended in a goalless draw in front of the sellout crowd, although the fans did get to see quite a spectacle.
The game was dominated by the home side with more than 67 percent possession by the final whistle, although St. Louis SC did enough to keep them at bay, restricting them to just one shot on target.
Hirving Lozano was forced off in the 31st minute with a suspected hamstring injury and was replaced by Emmanuel Boateng.

Following their goalless draw, San Diego sit in second place on the Western Conference table, unbeaten after two games with only the San Jose Earthquakes ahead of them.
The expansion side go on the road next to face Real Salt Lake City on March 8 before returning home to host Columbus Crew on March 15.
